Download an earlier version of i Tunes for Windows.
I wasn’t able to find i Tunes 11 for my 64-bit system, so I went ahead and got i Tunes 10.7 – anything is better than version 12 right?
If you do get an earlier version like I had to do on my 64-bit Windows system, don’t bother trying to update it because it’s going to want you to get i Tunes 12.
Some users report variations of a “Network Connection Timed Out” error when trying to update their i Phone, i Pad, or i Pod touch to a newer version of i OS or even when attempting to connect to the i Tunes Store.
i Tunes, in general, won our Worst Software Ever award, and it looks like version 12 would have no problem winning it again in a landslide victory.
But, what about all the digital music in your i Tunes library?
With the help of some good chaps at the local computer shop, we did a restore to the day before my misguided attempt to upgrade i Tunes and the Windows/connectivity issues were no more.

If you are lucky enough and i Tunes can still be run, then it's best to consolidate your library first before making a backup.
This consolidation process ensures that all the media files that make up your i Tunes library are copied to the i Tunes folder -- this solves the problem of having to remember where your media files are if they are spread out in different folders on your computer's hard drive.
